Big CountryBig Country are an acclaimed Scottish rock band formed in Dunfermline in 1981 by guitarists Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson. Driven by a widescreen, heartland rock sound, they became famous for using e-bows and guitar effects to mimic traditional Celtic bagpipes. Backed by a powerful rhythm section, they exploded globally with their 1983 debut album, The Crossing. The record spawned massive hits like “In a Big Country” and “Fields of Fire”. Despite UK chart-topping follow-ups like Steeltown, the band’s initial era ended tragically with Adamson’s death in 2001, leaving a beautifully unique alternative legacy.
