Bow Wow WowBow Wow Wow were an influential English new wave band formed in London in 1980. Orchestrated by former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, the group was created after he famously persuaded the original backing musicians of Adam and the Ants to strike out on their own. Fronted by the energetic, 13-year-old vocalist Annabella Lwin, they pioneered a highly danceable sound driven by a distinct, African-inspired “Burundi beat” drumming style. They achieved major international success in 1982 with their Top 10 UK single “Go Wild in the Country” and their iconic, high-energy cover of “I Want Candy” before disbanding in 1983.
