‘Shiny Shiny’ is a single by British pop band Haysi Fantayzee. The song peaked at No. 16 in the UK Singles Chart in 1983.
Haysi FantayzeeHaysi Fantayzee was an avant-garde British new wave pop group formed in London in 1981 by singers Jeremy Healy and Kate Garner, alongside producer Paul Caplin. Emerging from the vibrant Blitz club scene, the trio became a sensational talking point for their eccentric “Dickensian Rasta” fashion, featuring oversized hats and long dreadlocks.
Musically, they blended electronic beats, reggae, and country rhythms with politically charged lyrics disguised as playground nursery rhymes. They achieved major UK chart success with their controversial 1982 debut single “John Wayne Is Big Leggy” and the follow-up hit “Shiny Shiny”. Following their sole 1983 album, Battle Hymns for Children Singing, the band dissolved.
