HipswayHipsway is a Scottish sophisti-pop band formed in Glasgow in 1984 by guitarist Pim Jones, vocalist Grahame Skinner, drummer Harry Travers, and bassist Johnny McElhone. Defined by Skinner’s deep, expressive vocals and a sleek “white soul” funk sound, they quickly signed with Mercury Records.

The band achieved global recognition with their infectious 1986 hit single “The Honeythief,” which reached the Top 20 in both the UK and the US. Their self-titled debut album achieved gold status. Following McElhone’s departure to form the band Texas, Hipsway dissolved in 1989 but later reunited for well-received anniversary shows.
