Johnny Hates Jazz Johnny Hates Jazz is a British pop band formed in 1986, currently consisting of singer-songwriter Clark Datchler and producer-engineer Mike Nocito. The group achieved rapid international stardom with their slick, sophisticated pop sound, breaking through with the 1987 smash single “Shattered Dreams”. Their 1988 debut album, Turn Back the Clock, topped the UK charts and sold over four million copies globally. Following frontman Datchler’s departure and a subsequent hiatus, the band officially reformed as a duo in 2009. They continue to record and perform, recently collaborating with soul icon Jaki Graham on their 2026 single, “Soul Believer”.
