The Joe Dolce Music TheatreThe Joe Dolce Music Theatre was an avant-garde cabaret music project formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1979 by American-born singer-songwriter Joe Dolce. Conceived as an eccentric theatrical revue, the act featured shifting lineups—notably including Dolce’s partner Lin Van Hek—and blended satirical character comedy with melodic pop and poetry.

The troupe skyrocketed to monumental global stardom in 1980 with the release of the multi-million-selling novelty anthem “Shaddap You Face”. Driven by Dolce’s fictional persona “Giuseppe,” the infectious, accordion-led track topped the charts in 15 countries and remains Australia’s most successful single worldwide.
