The music world is mourning the loss of one of the 1980s’ most iconic voices following the death of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler at the age of 75.

Born Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen, South Wales, Tyler rose to fame in the late 1970s with It’s a Heartache,” but it was her unforgettable 1983 hit Total Eclipse Of The Heart” that made her an international superstar. Written and produced by Jim Steinman, the dramatic power ballad became one of the defining songs of the decade and remains a staple of classic pop radio. She followed it with another enduring favourite, “Holding Out For A Hero”, further cementing her place in music history.

Renowned for her distinctive husky voice and passionate performances, Bonnie Tyler enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades, selling millions of records and continuing to tour and record well into her later years. Her influence on pop and rock music was undeniable, and her songs have continued to captivate new generations of listeners.
