The Human League are an influential English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977 by Philip Oakey, Martyn Ware, and Ian Craig Marsh. Following an early lineup split, Oakey recruited vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley, pivoting the group toward a more accessible, commercial sound. They achieved monumental global success with their multi-platinum 1981 album, Dare. The record spawned the definitive, chart-topping international anthem “Don’t You Want Me”, famed for its cinematic music video. With further hits like “(Keep Feeling) Fascination” and “Human”, they became pioneering icons of the MTV-driven Second British Invasion.
