‘Doctorin’ The Tardis’ is a single by English electronic band The Timelords (KLF). The song peaked at No. 01 in the UK Singles Chart in 1988.
The TimelordsThe Timelords was a highly successful British novelty pop project formed in London in 1988 by musicians Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, who later became the legendary electronic band The KLF. Using a heavily customized Ford Cortina police car named “Ford Timelord” as the group’s fictional frontman, they blended early acid house rhythms with sample-heavy pop hooks.
They achieved monumental commercial success with their debut single, “Doctorin’ the Tardis.” The infectious mashup track merged the Doctor Who theme song with Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll (Part 2),” unexpectedly skyrocketing to number one on the UK Singles Chart.
