Nik Kershaw – Don Quixote

Released in 1985, “Don Quixote” was the third and final single from Nik Kershaw’s second studio album, The Riddle. Written by Kershaw and produced by Peter Collins, the song continued the sophisticated synth-pop style that had become closely associated with the singer-songwriter during the mid-1980s. The track combined polished electronic production with Kershaw’s thoughtful and often playful approach to songwriting.

Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ famous fictional knight, the song uses Don Quixote as a metaphor for someone who continues to pursue impossible dreams despite the obstacles standing in his way.
