Apologises for the lack of updates
A few weeks ago we discovered a major flaw in the way we wanted to maintain and update this website. We decided to bite the bullet and start everything from scratch again. We wanted to ensure going forward that the site can accomodate everything that we had planned, but after the first 100 or so songs we found issues with the way we were doing things.
So having learnt a few more technical aspects of wordpress and advanced custom fields, we are pleased to announce that we are now futureproof and have the basic blocks in place to continue building this archive. More features on the site will appear from time to time but for now we are going to concentrate on getting more songs on the site as quickly as possible.
Due to the redesign and the make up of the site, we had to add the songs again, one by one with the new structure and have just completed the first 50. (There were 104 songs on the previous site). We will be re-adding them as soon as possible.
Changes to the site:-
- Song layout redesign. You can now click on all the images (a-side, b-side etc. to see larger versions).
- Comments – you can now comment on any of the songs and let us know if we have made any errors, or give us your view on a particular song.
- New Number One On This Day info (home page)
- New Born On This Day info (home page)
- New Died On This Day info (home page)
- Better Newsletter sign-up application process. The old one was hit with numerous spam bots and it was hard to see who was real and who was made up. Sign up to the new newsletter. We will be sending out our first email newsletter over the weekend.
