Thin Lizzy – Chinatown

Released in 1980, “Chinatown” was the title track and lead single from Thin Lizzy’s tenth studio album, Chinatown. Written by Phil Lynott, Scott Gorham and Snowy White, the song introduced guitarist Snowy White following the departure of Gary Moore and demonstrated that the band had lost none of its trademark energy or melodic power. Produced by Kit Woolven, the track combined hard rock with Thin Lizzy’s unmistakable twin-guitar style, delivering a tough, atmospheric sound that reflected the band’s continued evolution.

The song paints a vivid picture of danger, mystery and life on the edge, using the setting of an urban Chinatown as a backdrop for its cinematic storytelling. The song peaked at No. 21 in the UK charts on 12th July 1980.
